Making cider from applesauce would be a lot of unnecessary work. Basically, you'd need to separate the juice in the sauce from the pulp; and there's a LOT of pulp in applesauce. Why do that when you can simply buy apple juice? Making cider from applesauce costs more, is a LOT more work, generates more waste & takes longer. If you're going to go to all that trouble, you might as well press your own apple juice; or at least use a juicing machine to juice your apples.
