Hi I.added.a.new.ingredient, oats with a little cinnamon. I got too far 1.070, I wanted to reach 1.052. I noticed the color was more faded than past batches, really ugly. So I did 1 gallon of pale ale extract at 1.040. I mixed it and it.lowered to 1.060, close enough to what I wanted 1.052. Only now the color has changed dramatically, far more light yellow during.the fermentation and gas production. what happened is the batch spoiled?

If you're judging the color in the carboy, that's very hard to do. Adding a gallon of pale extract will lighten the color of a darker beer.

what about the action of lowering gravity by usingextract with a lower gravity, is well done?
