I have a Belgian porter that's been in the primary for 3.5 weeks, I wanted to add oak chips to it, I was wondering if I can add to the primary and leave it for two more weeks? I could rack it into another 6.5 gallon carboy, but that would leave more than desired head space, as it will be more than 5 gallons, and I don't think it will all fit into my 5gall better bottle. I'm a little worried about leaving it on the primary yeast for 6 weeks, but it is a Belgian strain (wlp550).

After 3.5 weeks, an additional 2 in primary won't hurt anything (there are a lot of people on here that don't believe in using a secondary at all). Make sure you sanitize your oak chips by steaming or soaking in liquor before adding them though.
