I have a question about hop timing. I started using a brewers edge from a propane setup. After my mash process, it takes forever to reach a boil with 6.5 gallons. Almost 45 minutes. I have always waited to hit 212 to add any hops. Is this correct, or can I add hops and count that time as the wort comes to a boil? Hope I explained this correctly.

You can add hops earlier but it will give you more bitterness, I believe. So if you build a recipe for 40 IBUs and you add your hops that early, you'll end up with significantly higher IBUs. I would say stick with adding them once you have a rolling boil.
