Two weeks in plastic bucket...Hefeweizen...

Opened up to a strong smell of acetone and weird "crust".

I skimmed off the top and it smelled fine and I dared to taste and that too was fine..

I kept it very cool throughout with a swamp cooler/fan setup.

If it's infected what would you recommend at this point? After I'm through with this batch can I keep my bucket?

Thanks. Pic included.

( FG is dead on, ABV 5.6%)

Looks infected. Some people might suggest dumping it. Others might suggest letting it ride and see how it turns out. It probably depends on how badly you need the fermentor space.

Certainly looks like an infection. Some infections are not necessarily bad, but if you say you got an acetone flavor, I'd dump it and do whatever it takes to sterilize the bucket and other equipment. Buckets are pretty cheap and I'd probably just buy another one and all plastic hoses too. It's an easier and more sure way of preventing the infection from coming back.
