So, I'm making an Imperial IPA and it calls for 20-25 AAU's for bittering hops of like Columbus, Warrior or Summit. If I take the Summit AAu of 18.5% and take the high end of the AAU's of 25 for the recipe, I come up with about 1.35 oz of hops for that boil of 60 min. Does that sound right?

oz=(AAU/Alpha Acids)
x=25/18.5

x=1.3513

1.35 ounces of 18.5% hops should get you the 25 AAU.

I also ran it on beer smith figuring an average gravity for an IIPA and it came to 67 IBU's.

So, if i wanted to use 2 different hops as bittering, I would use say, 1 oz of Summit and say 1 oz of cascade? That would be around the 25 AAU, right?!

Cascade is used more for aroma not for bittering.

But if you were to use 1oz of each you would have anywhere from 21.5 - 27 AAU.

If you used Columbus and Summit, you could do .75oz of Summit and .75oz of Columbus to get you in the 24 AAU area.
