Hey all,

Hope you had a fiiiiiiine weekend. I'm making the jump to all grain and recently found a 9 gallon square cooler. I keep seeing 10 gallon 10 gallon 10 gallon for bigger beers, everywhere, but in your opinion (to save some dough) will this be an adequate size for 5 gallon batches? Over the next few months I plan on exploring my Belgian heritage and brewing all sorts of bigger Belgians as well as a number of session beers. Think this will work for a mash tun? Much appreciated.

Cheers

9 gallons will do you just fine as long as you aren't trying to brew massive stouts or barley wines.

The difference between 9 and 10 gallons will be marginal in all reality.

The most grain you can fit in a 10 gallon tun is 24 lbs. So as long as you're mashing less than 21.8 lbs you'll be fine.
