Hi all, how full can you fill a five gal corny key and still get it to carb?
How much head space do you need?
It's a five gal ball lock keg

Even if it does cover the gas tube, I would think it should still carb fine.

You want to keep the beer level below the transition from cylindrical to curved. The rate of CO2 absorption is proportional to the area of the gas liquid interface, Once the beer level gets above the cylindrical part of the keg, the interface area decreases rapidly, extending the time it will take to carb. It will carb eventually, but it could take from 4 weeks to a couple of months, depending on the actual fill level.
