220 Volt Hot Plate Fabrication Suggestions

I would like to add a 220v hot plate to my existing system for the purpose of canning wort (in the brewery vs. the kitchen). I would rather fashion something than pay retail. My system does have an adjustable power control.

What is a clever way to wire up an element and mount it on some base, capable of holding 50 pounds or so?

Other suggestions?
