Would this combo give me a easily removable weldless element?

I want to pick up a hot rod heat stick but I was thinking I could try one of these out as well in another brew kettle I have as well.

Yes. A few other people have used the 2" bulkhead. Personally, it isn't that much more to have a ferrule welded onto your pot and that is the route I would go. It would be much easier to clean, but if you don't have someone to do the welding then the bulkhead should work.
