1st time racking to secondary

I've always just used single stage fermentation before, but this time around I racked to secondary after about 8 days, when the activity seemed to die down. Since I racked it, I haven't seen any activity. Was I supposed to pitch more yeast when I racked it, or is secondary more for clarity than continued fermenting?
 
"Secondary fermentation" is a misnomer. Almost all of your fermenting finished in the primary. A better name for secondary is a clear tank.
