This is my first brew. It was an IPA. Small one gallon set up. After fermentation and bottling for 2 weeks each it wasn’t half bad. It has a very full body to it. Obvious thing would be that during the brew I lost some water.... anything else that could have contributed to this thick body IPA???

You will lose water to evaporation during the boil, then when you transfer to bottles you should leave some liquid behind with the sediment.

More important than quantity is quality, I hope you enjoy the flavor and heavier body. Next time you can add some water at the end of the boil to bring the gravity down a bit if it ends up higher than the recipe suggested.

Welcome to HBT and welcome to the hobby!! Got any photos to share?

Adding more water will definitely lighten the body. I make my IPA's with a medium body, & i pile on the hops. Welcome to the forums, & happy brewing.
