I was really liking the idea of doing electric boiling. I already have an all electric RIMS system, but just use propane to boil. HOWEVER, i'm going to be upgrading from 5, to 10 gallons. My question

Is 1 120v, 2000w element enough to boil? I'll only be going from 160 to boil temps, so I was thinking it would be ok.

Or, should I make 2 heat sticks, both 120v/2000w and just turn 1 off when I reach boil.

Suggestions?

Also, mount the elements INSIDE the kettle or make heat sticks and have the ability to take them out of the kettle

thanks!

Jason

No you will need much more than 2000w to boil. I have a 5500w element and it runs about 60% at boil.

Bought all the parts to make 2 of these this weekend! It will be temporary until running the separate circuit into the basement strictly for the eBrewery
