I saw this today at Walmart today. You too can have a 12 MEAT thermometer for 5 bucks.

It has the retaining clip on it and everything. Think I paid more than double that for one I bought at my LHBS.

Has anyone used this before? If so are they accurate? Pretty sure it was made from SS.

The temperature increments didn't quite have the resolution I would have liked, but for 5 bucks, it would get me close.

i would buy that - for meat. i spent $100 on various thermometers before i bought a thermapen on sale for $80. buy a thermapen and be done with the search for a good thermometer. or buy that one.

I would not try and use that for a mash tun or HLT as it is likely not that accurate...Fine for a boil kettle to know when you are close to boiling, but hell you can see that. FYI Walmart has decent digital stick thermometers for like 10-12 bucks...not waterproof but accurate IME.

I have an 8 gallon Bayou Classic SS boil pot and it came with a thermometer exactly like that. I tested it and it was 20 degrees low! The good thing is that it can be adjusted which I did and now it's spot on. I use it for heating my strike and sparge water. About every other batch I double check it with a Glass lab thermometer.

If it's adjustable it might be a good addition.
