1" coupling dimple crooked. How to fix?

As stated above. The simple tool went in quite a bit crooked. The bottom of the dimple is about 1/4" out. And the top is barely beveled.

I ended up screwing up the threads trying to pull the coupling through anyway. So I'm going to have to order a new coupling.

I was thinking I could hammer the edge flat again. And the try to redimple the hole. Hopefully doing it somewhat straighter.

Anyone have any experience with these?
 
I will try to get one in the morning. I work night shifts and getting stuff out at 5am would put the misses on the bad side for the day. ;)
