    Samuel Smiths Oatmeal Stout

All grains were measured out. It was a 2.5 gal boil and added water at end to bring total to 5. Same way I always do it. I am thinking something went on during the steeping process. Steeped as required for 30 min at 150 degrees and sparged. Not sure really. Bottom line what will the...

    Samuel Smiths Oatmeal Stout

No not really. I copied the recipe from Clone Brews and picked up ingredients at my LBHS. Followed directions to the tee. It was an extract brew with steeped grains. Extract was Muntons Light DME.

    Samuel Smiths Oatmeal Stout

Just brewed this stout. O.G. Was low. 1.40. Should of been around 1.5. What happened? How will the brew turn out? This is the second stout that I have had problems with. Not sure what is going on. All me other brews come out dead on.

    Counterflow Chiller problem

So awhile back I built myself a counterflow chiller. Testing it with clean hot water I got amazing results! The problem is when I used it with a hot wort it would get clogged with trub. I tried a mesh filter on end of siphon and that would get clogged. OK yes I thought about filtering the...

    Rootbeer not carbonating what's up?

So I am wondering if I didn't use enough yeast. The last post says 1/4 packet for 2 liters. I used a 1/2 packet for 2.5 gal. The directions stated 1 packet for 5 gal. They are in a warm spot and Ive roused twice.

    Rootbeer not carbonating what's up?

Ive been making beer without any carbonation issues. Thought I would make my kids some soda and used a Rainbow Flavors extract from the brew supply store and a champagne yeast. It has been two weeks and I popped a bottle today and it flatter than flat. Any suggestions? Very frustrated.

Irish Stout, stuck fermentation or just more time?

OK. So I will wait another week and retest SG. I wasn't planning on bottling anyways I just usually check SG at the 7-10 day mark.

Irish Stout, stuck fermentation or just more time?

Hey guys, Any thoughts would be appreciated. Brewed a BB Irish Stout 9 days ago with White labs Irish stout yeast. My last three beers have gotten to their FG in 7 days. This one is still only at 1.020 and should be btw 1.011-1.014. Do you think it is stuck fermentation or just needs more...

I reclaimed some Wyeast 3463, now what?

I recently brewed a Wit and after bottling I reclaimed some of the Wyeast 3463 Forbidden Fruit from the carboy. It was a slurry but has sinced settled in a sterilized quart jar. If I wanted to reuse this how much should be used? Can it be split up into seperate batches for pitching? Do I...
