Trying to figure out hop utilization for full boils

I've got a Brewers Best kit (bb) that I'm trying to plug into Brewtarget or Brewsmith so I can figure out the hops for a full boil. I've plugged in all the ingredients and set up the equipment as a 2.5 gal boil w/2.5 gal top off. Problem is the IBU's don't come out right, for the partial...

    Is my starter ruined?

I read several post here that gave the ratio of 100g per Liter. I aireated before pitching the yeast, and shook/swirled every hour or so the first day. Then it sat all day yesterday while I was at work.

    Is my starter ruined?

I made a 1.5L starter on 12-9 with WPL001. Last night the temp of the starter got down to 61f. I tried to gently warm it up in a pot of water to 75f. It breifly started back up then quit. It didn't really seem that it ever started well. Use by date was 3-4-12.

    Saflager s-23 question

I brewed a Tru Brew California Common yesterday using the supplied s-23 yeast. Pitched at 60 F and has stayed at 63-64F ever since. I have had no signs of fermentation, no airlock activity or Krousen (sp). The package of yeast says its good for 51-75F and Ideally 51-59F. Use date on...

    Natural gas burners

I didn't look at all of the items on that site, but the ones I did look at were in the 10-50k BTU range. That seems prety low. The one I have it 185K and makes fairly short work on a 3 gal boil, haven't tried it with 5 or 10gal. If I were to spend that kind of money I'd be looking for something...

    Bitter aftertast

My first batch that I was complaining of a bad bitter aftertast I set aside and was plannening on dumping. Well I decided to chill one more before I gave it the heave ho. I'm glad I didn't ! It has been in the bottles for 6 weeks now and it a pretty good beer! Lessons learned? If you don't...

    Priming sugar and carb level

I bumped up the carb to 2.5 and temp to 70. It recomends 4.3oz of sugar, I'll go with that. It should be fine. It just didn't seem right so I asked the experts, thanks for the help.

    Priming sugar and carb level

If I input 2.5 it does give me 4.1oz. Closer to what I'd expect. Wonder why it gives such a low recomended carb level for a IPA?

    Priming sugar and carb level

The calculator sugests carb level of 1.5-2.3 for a IPA. You have to look for the IPA but its there. And yes it was kept at 63F ambient for the 5 weeks in primary(in basment), so I bumped it up a couple degrees for fermentation temps.

    Priming sugar and carb level

It asked for fermentation temp, I put in 66F. 2.0 for carb level. 4.75 gal. for a IPA Thanks for the reply.

    Priming sugar and carb level

I'm about to bottle a Imperial IPA and this Carb calculator http://www.tastybrew.com/calculators/priming.html gives this result. Seems low to me, I'm used to 4-4.75(by weight) for a 5 gal batch. Recommended Priming Sugar: Sugar Type Weight Glucose (dextrose or corn sugar) 2.8 oz...

    Bitter aftertast

Both of the batches were BB kits, extract with specialty grains http://http://www.brewersbestkits.com/pdf/1007%20American%20Amber.pdf http://www.brewersbestkits.com/pdf/1037_India_Pale_Ale.pdf Both have specialty grains so steaping temp and procedures may be a factor. The first one I...
