    Pear wine

    Just picked 70 lbs of pears today. Canned 10 quarts in light syrup and planning on making sauce tomorrow. I think I may get some more and give pear wine a chance.

    General Concentrate Wine

    I may have to give one of these frozen juice wines a try. Have to see what is available next time I go to the store. Any benefit to adding frozen fruit to the concentrate?

    Who's smoking meat this weekend?

    These are my last 3 smokes. The chicken in the first picture was so moist. Cooked over lemonade after a simple brine and smoked with cherry. That fatty had Chipotle Peppers, bacon, onions and cheese in the center.

    Just made a pwm circuit for a ssr I had. So I was able to make a 5 gallon batch in the house. I like the way this worked out. I just brewed a honey ale. I used honey malt rather then honey I hope the taste comes thru.

    I need to update this. I have not used the rims yet but I'm boiling my first batch in over a year with an electric element in a keg. Using pulse width modulation and a ssr to control the 220 volts to the element.

    What do you drink other than homebrew?

    Macallan 15 is a nice bottle to drink. I can't normally afford that. I have been drinking a fair amount of the small batch liquors made by some of the Iowa distilleries. The bourbons and ryes aged in Oak are always nice. I like a bottle of 6th glass occasionally too.

    What came in the mail for you today?

    A stir plate and aeration kit for the wort. Played with the stir plate with a one and two inch stir bar in a one gallon carboy. Can't wait to put them to use for the barley wine I'm doing next.

    I would say 7 days in the primary is to short. Some of my beers have been in the primary longer then a month.
