Brew Controller Build - Wiring Diagram Verification

Thanks for the feedback guys! I will definitely add some type of secondary switch. I honestly couldn't tell you why I was doubting the location of that key switch. Just looked funny, and I'm by no means a master of electronics. Thanks again!!

Brew Controller Build - Wiring Diagram Verification

Hey Guys! I've been on a major brewing hiatus, but I'm finally getting back. I'm moving my rig indoors (woohoo!) and making it electrict (bigger woohoo). I'm hoping to validate some decision before starting the purchasing/building phase. Here's a quick link to my parts list...

    Red Rye Mini-IPA - I need feedback

It came out great! It was definitely not as red as I was hoping, more on the amber side. It was delicious, and yes BeerSmith.

    SSR voltage leak

In total this project is going to cost me about $130. However, it will also give me the ability to add raspberry pints into the mix for virtually nothing. I'm in the final stages of testing this with direct power via an override switch, and once it's all implemented I'll do a build wrote up post.

    SSR voltage leak

The other option is an n channel mosfet, but I like the convenience of screw based connectors. Worth the extra money to me.

    SSR voltage leak

Hello All! I had a quick discussion about this same topic over on the raspberry pi forums: http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=72100&p=520282#p520282 The end conclusion is that this particular SSR has a large leakage allowance. The solution is to use a different SSR rated...

    SSR voltage leak

For this application I need to have the DC voltage constantly available so when I send the pin on the Raspberry Pi hi to trigger the SSR all the valve will open and beer will flow. I'm trying to avoid a physical switch if at all possible.

    SSR voltage leak

Can you expand on that at all? Do you mean using a mechanical relay? An electromagnetic relay for example?

    SSR voltage leak

Hello All! I'm fairly new to Raspberry Pi, but I'm a fairly old hat at electronics. Here's what I'm doing: I have a kegerator with 4 taps. I also have two young children (one of whom just figured out how to open the taps). My basic plan is to have 4 solenoid valves that will prevent beer...

    Arduino and Homebrewing

I stand corrected. I was thinking purely of the adruino uno.

    Kegerator Solenoid Locks

The hef was carbed at 12 psi, but unfortunately inside my keezer I only have a single regulator to push beer. So I push them all at 8, and inevitably they do lose carb over time.

    Kegerator Solenoid Locks

Quick Update. I removed the screen from the valve. Picked up two 1/4in threaded x 1/4 MIP. I push my beer at 8psi. Here's a video of it: http://youtu.be/dxxh6ReXRwI I'm going to call this a success. This is a fully carbed hefeweizen being poored. I think I'm on the path now. I'm going to...

    Kegerator Solenoid Locks

As you can see there is a metal screen of some type inside. I'm pretty positive this is going to foam the crap out of the beer, but time and testing will tell. I'm going to pick up a few parts this week, and hopefully get some testing in next week. I'll keep you posted.

    Arduino and Homebrewing

Keep in mind that the adruino is a very straight forward and simple micro processor. For doing thing like web interface and interaction you're going to need something on top of it. A raspberry pi, or a computer of some type. Depending on how much you're planning to control you may even be able...

    Kegerator Solenoid Locks

So after doing a bunch more searching, contacting customer service at a few different retailers I order one of these: https://www.oscsys.com/store/product/1002271 I'll update back here with some results. Might be a week or two.

    Kegerator Solenoid Locks

My thought is to tie it into an adruino or raspberrypi board and require a pass code to pull a beer from my kegetator.

    Kegerator Solenoid Locks

I'm looking for some opinions on these solenoid valves: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Solenoid-1-4-SS-Valve-Air-Water-Gas-Diesel-12v-DC-Volt-Stainless-Steel-Viton-/111137864606 Being stainless, I'm pretty sure they should be ok to use. Thoughts? Opinions? Advice? Good place to look for...

    The Cheap Aproach - Possible?

Bobby. I like the way you think. That IS the cheapest, and probably the way I'm going to go.
