CO2 Refill in North Dallas, TX?

Had no idea how prevalent this was (wanting to keep the nice/shiny red CO2 tank). Fiancé bought me a kegerator conversion kit for Christmas and avoided building one because I couldn't find a CO2 refill, rather than a swap.

Same recipe, different source, different amount of LME. Hmm...

Excellent points. I really wouldn't want to find out what a 'lighter' Oktoberfest would be like. I think that I'll err on the side of caution and go with the book recipe. :mug: Weird that one extra gallon would seemingly call for an additional 2.8lbs of LME, though.

Same recipe, different source, different amount of LME. Hmm...

Hey guys, I'm getting back into brewing and I have a question. I want to brew Jamil's "Munich Madness" Oktoberfest recipe. The recipe in the book calls for: - Pilsner LME, 4.4lbs - Munich LME, 4.4lbs - CaraMunich steeping grains, 1.0lb But when looking at AHA link for the same recipe, it's...

Conflicting advice from LHBS and HBT...

Hi guys, I'm making a lager for the first time. (the Noche Buena recipe from Papazian) When I was picking the brain of one of the guys at my LHBS he recommended starting the fermentation around 65 degrees and gradually lower the temperature each day until it reaches around 55 degrees. Once...

Anybody been to the lakewood tour?

Lakewood had some excellent beer on tap when my wife and several friends went to their tour. Good live music, a food truck, and a decent amount of seating for mingling with friends...what more could we want?

    Stone Ruination clone...

There was a Stone Ruiniation recipe in the latest issue of Zymurgy. It's just like iijakii said, with two row and centennial. There were also instructions for extract brewing.

    One billion yeast cells...a question

So my latest brew was my first foray brewing with liquid yeast. I told the manager of my local home brew store as much and he recommended a "smack pack" because they didn't need a starter. After researching some more, it seems like the one billion yeast cell count is greatly insufficient. I just...

    Best iPad App For Brewing?

A feature like his is what I was referring to: http://beersmith.com/converting-from-all-grain-to-extract-with-beersmith-2/

    Best iPad App For Brewing?

Do any of the above mentioned brewing apps do conversions? (I.E. all grain recipes to extract) From the apps that I've looked at in iTunes this feature isn't mentioned. Maybe it's a standard feature of all apps, but converting recipes is a must-have for me.

    Sam Adams Grumpy Monk

Hey guys/gals. On my lunch hour I was hanging out in the beer section of one of the nicer grocery stores here in Dallas. I bumped into the dept. manager and he raved about this case from Sam Adams. I love IPA's so of course it had to go home with me. :mug: My question is has anybody else tried...

When to toss out a bottle?

I have a few bottles that might have had mold in them. I have soaked/scrubbed with oxyclean. I can't see any mold, but the bottom of the bottle isn't perfectly clear like the majority of my bottles. My bottle brush cannot get into every nook and crevice of the bottle, so I am contemplating...

    Some Newbie Fundamentals Questions

Bear, You really need a thermometer to help you to determine when to pitch the yeast. You wouldn't want to simply estimate this. Jason

    Success!

Awesome. My third batch is in the secondary fermenter, and I look forward to receiving compliments like that.

Priming 5UK gallons or 6US gallons

Thanks, BigB. The calculator looks like an excellent resource. This now leads me to a second question. In my first batch I had added 2lbs of sugar for a 6 gallon batch. So, I'm expecting a low ABV for my first batch. For my second LME English Bitter kit, I picked up 2lbs of DME rather than...

Priming 5UK gallons or 6US gallons

So I brewed my first batch of homebrew and the extract kit made 5UK gallons or 6US gallons, my question is do I need to kick up the 3/4 cup of priming sugar to compensate for that extra gallon? Thanks for the help! :tank:
