    Show me your tap handles!

This is my first time making tap handles. I was going for a garage theme here. I used sockets to attach the ferrules to the tools. The tools are held in place using Quick Steel epoxy putty. The ferrule screw sticks out the bottom of the socket.

    New dual hinge keezer

I bought this dolly from Northern Tool. It makes moving the keezer around my garage extremely simple. I move it out to the driveway when we have block parties. http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200304857_200304857

    New dual hinge keezer

Thank you. The area I am at has a lot of pine but not much decorative wood. It was much cheaper for me to use pine and then paint it.

    New dual hinge keezer

Well, it is time to upgrade the Keezer. I bought a dolly, added 2 new taps, created 4 tap handles and built a drip tray. I documented what I did in the Picasa album. https://picasaweb.google.com/samuel.shepard/Keezer?authkey=Gv1sRgCKjxwrPnmbiA2AE&feat=directlink

    Root Beer Tap Handle

Not a bad idea. A noisemaker sounds like fun.

    Root Beer Tap Handle

I thought about doing that. Picking something out which screams "KIDS!". But I also do not want Dora the Explorer sitting on my Keezer. :)

what size chest freezer do you use?

I bought a GE 5cuft chest freezer from Sam's Club to use as a fermenter. It held 2 cornies or one 6.5g carboy.

    Root Beer Tap Handle

I have 4 taps on my keezer and am dedicating one to Root Beer. I have looked around the intertubes and e-bay for a Root Beer Tap Handle with no luck. I would like something which is specific enough that the neighborhood kids would instantly know which handle to pull. Any suggestions?

Root Beer Have too much molasses? Add Gin.

I have been experimenting with different ingredients for Root Beer. I was looking into sugar substitutions and tried molasses. I was concerned with sweetness and forgot to take the powerful taste into account. The batch was right on the verge undrinkable. I posted my failure on a...

Only co2 in pour. New commercial keg.

I was never able to get it to work. Today I took the keg back and exchanged it. The new keg poured perfectly. I assume it was just a bad keg. When I finally tried the beer in the bad keg it had a copper penny taste.

Only co2 in pour. New commercial keg.

Well, it looks like it just needed a good half hour of waiting while I researched the issue. I just went out and tried it again and got a nice steady pour after an initial blast of co2. I'll let it sit a little while longer and try again. Weird.

Only co2 in pour. New commercial keg.

hey guys. I bought a new shiner keg the other day and tapped it this morning. The line is pure co2 with a little bit of foam. You can hear the co2 rush out and see the beer line just has a bit of foam. This is different from when I first balanced the system and got a steady pour of foam...

    Broken Carboy

I shattered the bottom of one of my carboys by placing it on the ground. I use those carboy handles that fit around the neck and have always had good luck. However, while moving the empty carboy from one location to another I just set it down and crash. Luckily all that was hurt was my...

    New dual hinge keezer

Thanks. Actually, it is black. :) The only 2x8 lumber I could get here in yuppie-land was gnotypine. I would have preferred to stain a nice hardwood, but you work with what you can get. I painted the collar a flat black then gave it two coats of glossy spar urethane.

Why do pre-hopped kits taste so bad?

I first started using the pre-hopped cans. However, the LHBS also sold me some decent yeast and LME. The outcome was a decent beer, but every batch had some weird... taste to it. I thought maybe it was the bucket... did I not rinse it enough, etc. However, when I ditched the can and...

    New dual hinge keezer

It was more then I thought it was going to be. However, I purchased everything I needed for this project and did it at full retail. If you scour the interwebs and already have supplies then it probably will not be near as expensive...

here is the finished product if you do not want to view the rest. Well, almost finished. I still need to get a drip tray and some tapboard handles.

    New dual hinge keezer

Well, I have lurked these threads off and on for a couple years new trying to decide if I want to start kegging. I finally bit the bullet when my brewbud and I split a 10 gallon batch. I am tired of bottling. After reading about every keezer thread prosted I decided to build my own, by...
