    Top Beer!

We intend on showcasing a brewery for most episodes. They won't be as dry though. We're working on our camera presence. Also our editor quit the company 2 days before the final cut was to be done so it's not up to par just yet. Second episode will be in a couple weeks. We just had Tampa Bay...

    Top Beer!

Hi all! My buddy and I started a new show based in Tampa on craft breweries, beer geekery, and anything to do with craft beer. We just released the first episode - Rapp Brewing. Check it out. Prost! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmRmQNgoLP4&feature=youtu.be

    Whiskey Barrel Kegorator

ShastyMcJasty... do you know the model fridge you used as the donor? Great build! Cheers!

    Kegerator Question

If you must have a chest style, then that's fine. Otherwise it seems like more effort and money since you have to have a temp controller.

    Kegerator Question

You can fit 8+ kegs in a fridge if you build a mount. Some freezerless ones can fit 10+. I got a used side by side for free that fit 8 kegs. You can find a used fridge for cheap on craigslist.

    Kegerator Question

Why use a freezer over a refrigerator? It would seem if all you are doing is serving beer, you are already in the serving range with a fridge. Aside from the obvious things like turning it into a bar, or availability, it doesn't make sense to me to use a freezer. The lifespan will be shorter...

How do you limit beer consumption off kegs?

Easy... brew 10 gallon batches. Buy more kegs. I couldn't keep up with my friends demand for beer so I brewed bigger batches. Problem solved.

Used freezer/refrigerator vs. new energy efficient freezer

Why not use a fridge? You are using a freezer outside of it's normal operating range which will impact it's lifetime. One of the reasons to use a freezer is because it's cheap and used most times. Buying new kind of negates that.

Newb harvester help please. Pics included

Weigh the hops wet. Then while drying you can weigh them again and see how much moisture was removed. Should be about 1/4 the weight when dry I think.

    South Florida Hop Growing

Harvested the first of the columbus. Dried it in the garage and got 8.5g of hops! Cheers!

    Alternative Hop trellis'

I built a 9' tall 8' wide pergola over my entry way and it has 4 plants growing on it right now. One is over the top and another is threatening.

    Florida Hops experiment

I've got cones, the columbus is probably ready to harvest. Everything else is still growing.

    Four Kegs One Tap

You will need flow back prevention valves on the lines or any change in pressure from one keg to any other will cause you to mix beers. Interesting project.

    5000 BTU Fermention Chamber

While you have it open you could rewire it so the fan is always on when the compressor is running. Then it won't ever freeze up.

    South Florida Hop Growing

I'm getting ready to pick my meager columbus haul in a about a week I think. They are plumping up and starting to smell like hops. I picked one this morning and could see some lupulin forming, but not quite there. I doubt I'll get more than a 1/2 oz dried from this first harvest. Hopefully the...

    South Florida Hop Growing

Willamette (or magnum) on left isn't doing well, not really taking off. Columbus has some hops and the other side of the plant is getting taller finally. The magnum has one good bine getting taller, and on the far right the Tea Maker is growing at about 3-4 inches a day. I'm training it to grow...

To Kill or not to kill, that is the question

We get swarms of moth caterpillars every spring and they chew plants to pieces. We just use dish soap on them and it seems to do the trick.
