    Ever heard of Moa?

A local specialty food shop has a small but diverse beer selection that I check out regularly. Last night I saw a beer called Moa. It's from New Zealand. Has anyone ever tried it before? Their 5 hop ESB came in a 4 pack of 16 oz bottles for 21 bucks so I was thinking of giving it a try. I...

    Anyone know of this?

I was at the 2nd annual Shreveport Brew yesterday (tons of fun, great beer and awesome food), and I saw something really cool. At the Becks booths they had what looks like a really decorative stein handle, but it had a plate at the bottom and a hole at the top with a beer bottle perfectly...

    Miles per gallon

A recent student found that the average American walks 900 miles a year. Another study, found that Americans drink, on average, 22 gallons of alcohol a year. That means that, on average, Americans get about 41 miles to the gallon! I'm guessing homebrewers get significantly less per gallons :D

Not sure if all of you are familiar with Instructables, but besides HBT it's my favorite website. It's very similar actually. Just a giant How-To website. I just thought I'd spread the love and post a how-to for my stir plate and within 30 minutes I had made the front page. I'm a huge geek I...

Why not make a starter with dry yeast?

I've searched the forums and read a lot of different opinions on the subject. The main consensus I have seen is make a starter with liquid, rehydrate only with dry. I realize that dry yeast should already have the cell count you need to ferment a 5 gallon batch, but I haven't read anything...

    Beer roadtrip across America

If you're going to dream, dream big. At least that's how I feel. The wifey and I have decided that in one years time, we are going to rent out our home and travel the country in an airstream (which we have yet to purchase). Besides the once in a lifetime experience of traveling all across...

    Louisiana hard sweet tea

Here is my first "experiment". I'm from Louisiana, hence the name. Not sure how this is going to turn out. I think I made quite a few mistakes and I'm actually wanting to do another batch right away and tweak the things I did wrong. Here's the recipe I used: 96 bags Lipton tea 3...

My first batch: Things I've learned

Technically I guess it's my second batch (my first was a Mr. Beer kit), but it's my first 5 gallon batch. It was tons of fun and I learned things you can only learn by actually doing. I had everything pretty well organized to begin with but there are definitely a few things I'll remember to...
