For Sale Complete all grain brewing setup (North Dallas)

Looking to try out brewing? Have a friend who wants to? This will get you started for cheap! Looking for $120 as shown or $140 if I add in a Turkey fryer burner. I figure the price of the copper chillers is worth almost my asking price. Pick up only of course. Posting this just since it has...

    Unplanned Decoction?

So I originally planned on doing a Double Decoction for a Hefeweizen I am (currently) brewing. I decided against it due to time constraints. The mash temps for 60 minutes were actually closer to 145 due to a thermometer inconsistency. I figured, what the hell. This batch is a 3 gallon test/why...

    JC A419 temp controller question-

I need to check for the green light. Maybe it's something to do with the freezer (though I don't see how if it doesn't have power?). It contains my 5 gallons of beer in a carboy. Luckily the SA-05 isn't picky! It finished fermenting at the odd range of 52-65 just as fast it would any other time...

    JC A419 temp controller question-

I'm using a chest freezer and the Johnson controls A419 to control the fermentation temps. I properly set the SP (65) and DIF (3) but for some reason, it lets the freezer cool all the way down to 52 before shutting it down. Any ideas?

    Easiest Belgo-IPA you could make.

So... I just tasted New Belgium's Belgo-IPA and it totally reminds me of the easiest beer I have ever made in my life, so I thought I would pass along the info. Ya, it probably isn't by the book, but the method was what the LHBS recommended. Basically it is a no-boil bitter, but you can make...

WTT Westy 12 for 3F Dark Lord

Thanks to HappyLoon for the trade. Hope you enjoyed the brew... I actually have a couple bottles left of Westy 12, would still be willing to trade one for a Three Floyds Dark Lord if anyone has one to spare. At this point, that is the only trade I would be willing to do for a W12. Thanks!

WTT Westy 12 for 3F Dark Lord

Here is a rare opportunity for ya... I went to Belgium in '09 and brought a bunch of Westvleteren 12 for the journey home. I still have a couple left so I'd like to see if anyone would like to trade me a Three Floyd's Dark Lord RIS since its so hard to come by... Might consider some of the...

Weissbier Bee Cave Brewery Bavarian Hefeweizen

I have had to waste more than a couple batches... Brewing is a tough science when you lack the right equipment! As to thermometers, I am still using the same one that reads 8 high. (Taylor Tru-temp from Target). I checked it with my Johnson Controls temp controller to make sure I am correcting...

Weissbier Bee Cave Brewery Bavarian Hefeweizen

Well, having tried a weizen myself using a dry yeast, I can say that the results were not great. I contacted the company (mine was actually Fermentis) and they suggested- "We found that adding some glucose helps, I have attached an article that describes a mashing procedure to increase the...

Side by side fridge for simultaneous chilling AND fermentation

I have my beer in the fridge section currently, but I am thinking about trying something- keeping the keg on tap in the freezer section, and fiddling with the thermostat on the fridge to get the temps about where I want them. I have a Johnson Controls A419 that I was planning on using for the...

Weissbier Bee Cave Brewery Bavarian Hefeweizen

I kegged five days ago after the ten days of fermentation was up. Since it was my first time kegging, I was a bit impatient so I tried the shake method. Basically I set it to 30 psi and disconnected the keg to shake it up for about 10 minutes. Naturally it needs to settle after all of that, so I...

Weissbier Bee Cave Brewery Bavarian Hefeweizen

Just pulled my first fully carbed pint of this... New kegging setup, new temperature controlled fermentation fridge. Used only DME and had to sub hops (can't remember the name, similar AA to HH) One tasty beer!

    Scored 25' 1/4" copper, cleaning?

I was in the right place at the right time and scored some free Copper tubing. It has a little bit of latex paint from where someone painted around it. Anyone got any methods of cleaning or a chemical to remove this? Then how would I prep it for my wort immersion?

    Chicago/Northern Midwest beer suggestions needed!

My friend is going to be in Chicago next week and offered to get me some of the beers that we can't get down here in Houston. What do you guys recommend that fits that criteria? I already plan to get some New Glarus, but that's the only one I'm familiar with! Help a brother out!

    WTT for some Three Floyds...

Actually, at the time of posting the thread I wasn't aware of how hard it is to come by the dark lord. I ended up trading with Suthrncomfrt1884 (thanks man!) and tried some three floyds and also new Glarus. Thanks for the offer though!

British Brown Ale Aberdeen Brown Ale (NewCastle Clone) AG

Just bottled my attempt at this. I used the Special B as someone suggested, as well as the Safale 04. I'll give an update when I try it!

Belgian Dark Strong Ale Rochefort 8 clone (as close as you can get)!

Mine turned out pretty well. I named it "Green Cap". Since I have now gone all grain, I would like to try it again in the future, as it didn't taste very much like Rochefort. I'd say it is my favorite out of all 5 extracts I attempted though.

    Help with lager schedule

I've invented my first recipe, and it as far as the BJCP goes, it's a munich dunkel. However, the post boil is 1.051, so I guess that should be cool. Not trying to thread-jack, but thanks for the tips!
