    how close is "close enough" for attenuation?

    I *DO* understand taking FG readings several days apart to confirm fermentation is done (and I WILL do so!). just curious re: apparent attenuation, versus published data for that yeast, etc... so, I have a nut brown ale (OG = 1.072). just checked the gravity and it's at 1.021. Safeale 05...

    Homebrew 101 for non-brewers?

    was wondering if anyone ever made up a Homebrew 101 sheet for non-brewers...something like: "You are about to experience a homebrewed beer, hand crafted by __________. A few things to know beforehand...this brew was bottle conditioned, which means it was carbonated [etc. etc.]"

    stupid, stupid, STUPID!

    I cannot BELIEVE I did this! emptied my new fermenter into bottling bucket WITHOUT disconnecting the blow-off tube...16 oz. of Star San into the bucket before I knew it! damn, damn, DAMN!

    flavor addition w/no-chill?

    probably been asked before (my apologies, but I'm brewing now and didn't think about it until just now)… I do Aussie-style no-chill, but don't want to "lose" the flavor of that hops addition...when should I add those hops? Many Thanks!

    bottling vs. another week on yeast cake?

    I brewed a nut brown ale (7/28) for a special event in late September. it's been in primary for the two weeks now. OG = 1.053, FG (?) today is 1.013. I know I'm cutting it close, time-wise. I tasted the gravity sample, and it's not bad, but a little..."off". I'm sure the lack of carbonation...

    just picking this (brewing) back up, so I'm a little rusty... looking for advice on extract w/grains recipe for an American Nut Brown Ale. Mostly worried about the nut flavor...how/how much/etc. Thanks!

    dishwasher for bottles?

    sorry if this has been asked before, I'm in a time crunch...just realized that tomorrow will be my best chance to bottle a hefeweizen I brewed a few weeks ago (wife and kid will be away tomorrow, leaving the house to me)... any reason NOT to clean bottles in a dishwasher, using standard DW...

    attenuation question

    if the OG = 1.065 and the yeast strain has an attenuation of 70-76 percent, what SHOULD the FG be? I know I should be able to figure this out, but...it's early here! Thanks!
