    Just kegged for first time...

I have read many different opinions... 1) I did not use priming sugar. I set to about 12 psi and put keg and Co2 in fridge. Am I correct? If so about how long for conditioning and carb? (Scotch Ale) 2) I assumed and left Co2 attached with pressure set to 12 psi? I read some people set...

    Diy stir plate issue

I was thinking too fast BUT if that was the case would it work fine when there is no flask of water? I drop the bar onto the plate and it spins fine as far as being too far away I suppose that is a possibility but I can't see how I could get it any closer. I didn't know if a larger or...

    Diy stir plate issue

I made my own stir plate from parts from radio shack. It works great - when there is no flask on it. The 1" bar spins fine but when put it in the flask of water, as it speeds up, (I keep it on the lowest setting) it seems to take off and shoot off. Is it the size or shape of bar? I have it...

Thrown Stir Bar - in water

Thanks for all the replies. I have a starter in my 2000 ml flask right now so I will take a look when i am done with that and try some of the other suggestions. I do know the fan / magnets are as flush as possible without touching. The magnets are about the same size (2 small round ones) as the...

Thrown Stir Bar - in water

Hello, I have read the other similar threads but didn't see anything the same. My home built stir plate spins fine when the magnet is on the plate as well as when the bar is in an empty flask. When I tried with water it gets thrown every time so I have no confidence of it working in my wort...

    Liquid vs Dry (starters)

Let me start that I have read a lot on this site and others about opinions about dry vs. liquid and I have read some books where they discuss importance about starters but here is my situation: I just picked up a recipe to brew tomorrow High Gravity pumpkin Ale (FG 1019-1023) yeast =>...

Reduce hops for full boil and any other adjustments?

I ended up leaving it alone - thanks

Reduce hops for full boil and any other adjustments?

I will steep with the 2.5 gal. (won't be any harm in that anyway) and then add more water before the boil. Any ballpark on the hops reduction? Cut in half?

Reduce hops for full boil and any other adjustments?

Hey All, I really did not get an answer the last time so I thought I would try one last time before I brewed today. Full boil extract recipe meant for a 2.5 gal boil. Russian Imperial Stout. Do I need to reduce the hops at all? Should I steep grains in 2.5 gal or full 5 gal? Any...

    Russian Imperial Stout - starter?

I think Mr. Malty calculated 1.6 packs - but I have never used it before Maybe that's not a big enough difference to matter.

    Russian Imperial Stout - starter?

I just picked up a Russian Imperial Stout kit that contained dry yeast pack. Kit says OG 1.078-1.08 Yeast - Dry 11.5g English Ale Safale s-04 (Fermentis) best by date: 2012 Oct. I have read many threads. Is a starter needed in this case? Recommended or not needed at all? Any other...

    Full boil

The 30 qt and burner are borrowed. I read about getting better brews with a full boil. If I do i will invest in one.
