    Horchata Cream Ale ideas?

Back in 2022 snake River brewing in Jackson hole Wyoming created a Horchata cream ale. It had a very clean taste, and it Tasted like it had been backsweetened with lactose. Hence the cream part in the name. And it did reminded me of a smooth, light white stout. I think somebody in this thread...

    Rant to Home Brewing Suppliers

When you live in a very remote area like myself (nearest Walmart is 90 miles) we expect a beginner extract kid to have good instructions. My point is that Directions must be concise and a teaching instrument.

The whole point of my rant is that we not only need to bring beginners into the art, but retain them.

    Rant to Home Brewing Suppliers

I’ve been brewing for one year I’m 2-2 due to bad, brewing instructions. For example, today I’m going to try and brew a partial kit from Northern Brewers. My last two BIB batches went bad. If this wasn’t my 5th time brewing, I would’ve been totally lost with the following instructions. I’ve...

    Ever Dumped a Brew? Regrets?

Dumping 40 bottles this weekend. Boiled a lid that fell off a can of DME for an hours. Imparted a horrible metallic taste. Nu trine I will completely cut away the lids before pouring into pot.

    Metallic taste stout

This was my first batch and my notes are practically nonexistent for this day. I’m pretty sure it was the lid I took off the can of DME that fell into the pot and I left it. I was afraid to shut down the heat and fetch it out because I thought it would screw up the process.

    Metallic taste stout

My very first batch was an extract imperial Stout, the DME came in cans that I had to warm up. I open the cans but left the lid on so I could rinse some of that extract off the lid as well. On my last can the lid came off the canned and dropped in the pot. I tried to retrieve it but I thought...

Alpine Wyoming, home to Melvins Brewing has a population of 800. The question isn’t how big is your town, the question is how big is your dream.

High altitude ABV challenges at 6500’

I wasn’t aware that refractor needed adjustments! I’ll look into this. I’ve read a few articles in the last 30 min and It looks like it might add 1.5% to my ABV so now I’m at about 3.2% on a beer that should be 6%. I’m afraid my yeast pop is not high enough due to elevation?

High altitude ABV challenges at 6500’

I can only hit 50% of my ABV I’m a newbie and have brewed about four batches. 1-lager, 1- ale all grain, 2-stouts participle extract. I’ve always hit or exceeded my post-boil gravity. I don’t use secondary fermentation I just leave it in the fermenter for twice as long. I have a temperature...
