Weirdest thing ever but kind of cool. Chilling stir plate. I bought it at a chemistry surplus store at MSU. Used it as a stir plate a few times and used it just to keep my beer cold while hanging out in the garage a few times. $50 shipped (you could sell it on eBay for more)

Heated stir plate. It's in rough shape but works perfectly. I used to use it to boil the starter wort in a 1000 ml Erlenmeyer, then cool in ice bath, then put it back on. I bought a nice new one a while ago and held on to this one for a year or so now but have not used it and it's time to go...

I'm sure this is a stupid question, but I've been thinking, and I know nothing about electric brewing yet, can I buy a Blichman boil coil, plug it in to my Johnson A419 temp control, stick the temp probe in a ss thermowell and use this to maintain mash temp?
