Looking For A Light Beer Recipe

Does anyone have a good extract or BIAB light beer recipe? I'm considering going on a low carb diet and I'd like to have something I can still drink when I want a beer without cheating.

    Filtering

What's a good inexpensive way to filter small batches mead and cyser? I have a gallon of each going right now that I've already run through a fine mesh strainer twice and there's still a lot of sediment in the cyser. Posted this in bottling because I'd likely do the filtering right before I...

    Fermintation Temp

Is there any advantage or disadvantage to fermenting mead and cyser at lower temps? I was planning to ferment at 68-70 F but it's been so cold it's been hard to even get them to 68. The basement is so cold right now the heater runs more than the refrigerator to keep my beer fridge at 48.

Getting ready to start my first lager.

Anyone have any tips for my first lager, waiting for a European Pilsner kit I ordered from Midwest. I have a refrigerator and temp controller for lagering and this will be my first batch that I'm doing in glass. I'm planning to use the lagering schedule that was posted on Home Brew Talk last...

    Beer Yeast in Mead

What are people's opinions on using beer yeast in mead. Been watching a couple of homebrew YouTube channels and their answer to good mead that doesn't have to be aged for months is beer yeast. If their results are as good as they make them sound the only negative would be reduced ABV and I'm...

    Fermentation and Bottle Conditioning Time

I'm making beer for a party at my sister's in a few months and I'm wondering what is the best way to use the extra time I have. I'm making an american wheat and want to start it as soon as I get the money from her and buy the ingredients. Is it better to spread out the extra time I have and...

My first experiment, fruit wheat beer.

Started with Midwest's Simply Beer American Wheat kit, 6lbs wheat LME and 1oz each of Willamette and Cascade hops, as a base and made Blueberry, Cherry, Strawberry and wheat. Fermented for 2 weeks and then split it up when it came time for the secondary. I used 1lb of fruit for each bucket...

    2 Years?

Sorry to bug everyone else with with this but it's hard to believe it's been 2 years. 2 years ago a good friend of mine died from an aortic anyisum, sorry for the spelling, and it's hard to believe it's been this long. I miss you Dave.

    Brewing for the Holidays

Working on what I want to brew and when I need to start for the holidays and I was wondering what everyone else is doing. I'm planing to make Phil Keener’s Belgian Dubbel and a bunch of one gallon recipes to try different things. The plan so far is to make the beer, mead, cyser, apfelwein and...

    Question About Aging

I'm planing to make a Belgian Dubbel for Christmas that calls for 30 days in the secondary, if I want to make it farther ahead than that is it better to leave it in the secondary or bottle it after the 30 days?

    Peach Beer

I'm looking for a 1 gallon extract recipe that would be a good base to make a peach beer. A friend of mine suggested peaches when I was talking about this latest batch that I split up to make strawberry and blueberry wheat and I'd rather make a small batch to try peaches than make 5 gallons of...

    Label Making Software?

Is there any good open source software for making labels? I've been trying to make labels using Gimp but even though I'm using layers to separate elements of the label when I add color to an element is fills everything it's touching even things that are on a different layer.

    Adding Fruit

I'm making my first fruit beer and I was wondering if it's better to add the fruit whole, mash it up or run it through the blender. I'd guess that all of them would work, just give different results, just not sure which is best.

    Caramel and Crystal Malt

What is the difference between Caramel and Crystal malt? I have a recipe that calls for 20 and 80 Crystal malt but anywhere I look for ingredients local and online, only has Caramel malt in 20 and 80.

Looking for a good first recipe.

I'm looking for a good recipe for my first beer. I've made a few batches of hard cider over the winter and I want to start my first batch of beer. Something that prefers cooler temps for fermenting would be nice but I can work with things that need a warmer temp too.
