    I did and checked it on two scales both times.. it came out the relatively same with an exception of 1oz .. the milled grain is lighter and fluffy feeling .. my only thought because it's not as compact as unmilled grain

    When I measure my grains .. say for instance 2lbs of two row . I measure at 2 lbs even but after the grain is milled and none lost it weighs in at 1lb 6oz .... would this difference affect the final gravity or am I missing something ?? should I be using the after results for my total grain...

    Today I did some testing and insulated the hoses with pipe foam wrap and calibrated the PID's and stats to within 1 degree ..hard to do when the control temp fluctuates but very close ... I did notice a closer temp difference once I ran the herms system ... I'm going to brew a batch tomorrow...

    I'm having big issues with my Herms system .. after i mash in my temp drops witch is expected but as i start running wort through the herms the temp drops about 15 deg and sometimes 20deg and i cant get it to rise no matter what .. also im getting stuck sparges and run off to the boil kettle.     Yes I did boil grains but for a different batch that I was toying with trying different things .. it actually turned out to be a well balanced beer .. I don't think I will replicate it again but it's fun to experiment and see what happens

    I actually boiled some grains made a small batch and pitched yeast at 68f let it sit over night then pitched to my wort .. thought I would try a different method as I've read different ways to make yeast starters ..I was skeptical at making a yeast starter with dry yeast .. but it did take off...

    I made a yeast starter with us-05 let is sit for a day then refrigerated for a day till I was ready for it ... I tossed the old dme out that was on top and washed with fresh wort cooled to 64 degree and pitched to my wort ..doesn't seem that anything is happening .. not sure if I screwed this...
