    My counterflow chiller is clogged

I always try to clean and sanitize it when i finish but I honestly might have forgot after the last use - can't remember. It is made of copper so I could try baking it but I think I will running hot PBW through it to see if that has an effect first. I'll start with the least severe ideas and...

    My counterflow chiller is clogged

I am able to pass liquid through it with a garden hose on full blast but even then it barely comes through. Last night when I was brewing I couldn't get any wort through - which really sucked! I have tried immersing the entire thing in boiling water thinking it would loosen whatever is in there...

Help me identify my mystery hops!

Didn't know that, I thought they would look exactly the same bc they're the same plant. The rhizomes came from a seller on ebay. Thanks for the info! I fixed the 2nd link btw https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bx9ZZ7r_T5dFa2J4TnJ6UVJScDg/view?usp=sharing

Help me identify my mystery hops!

I purchased 5 rhizomes off the internet this year and besides for them being VERY slow growers that started with very few tentacles or whatever you call those off-shoots, they seem to be different varieties as the leaves are in different shapes. I took a few photos in hopes someone might be able...

    4 different labels

Haa. Yeah these conditions are really rare but trust me, you don't want to come down with a case of wizard toes 😀

    4 different labels

These were original, I had a lot of time while my fiancé was making real plans for the wedding to come up with ideas.

    4 different labels

I just recently got married and made 4 different beers for the wedding. Just thought I'd share the labels I created for the beers - The Orange Kolsch features the bride and the Peanut Butter and Chocolate Porter one of the groomsmen.

1st time kegging, beer in regulator

I don't know how far it went into the regulator but I think I cought it pretty early before it went to far into it. I'll tear it apart as far as I feel comfortable and clean it and hopefully it will live to carb another day. Thanks for the info.

1st time kegging, beer in regulator

Just kegged my first kegs and after lowering pressure I walked away for a moment and came back to find beer traveling up the lines into the regulator. It's brand new and I'm hoping I didn't trash it right out of the gate.bis there anything I can do?!?

Critique my first attempt at All grain recipe (Liquid Bliss clone)

I've tried it and had very good results. It does take A LOT of pb2 to make a noticeable peanut butter taste in the end. I used a total of 3 bottles of pb2. The first to were the regular peanut butter and the third was the kind with added chocolate. It made a very tasty chocolate and peanut...

    Mixed-Style Beer Orange Kolsch (AG/EX)

I added it to the secondary after boiling in a cup of water and the results were pretty much immediate. I usually don't go for beers with such a subtle flavor character as this so that might be part of why I thought it tasted watered down. But yeah, it had much more character after adding the...

    Mixed-Style Beer Orange Kolsch (AG/EX)

Thought I would field my own question I asked earlier and say that adding an extra ounce of orange (half sweet half bitter) and another .2 oz of coriander definitely made the difference and woke this beer up. I'm actually really looking forward to drinking this now.

    Mixed-Style Beer Orange Kolsch (AG/EX)

I brewed the 11 gallon all-grain batch of this and after 3 weeks in the fermenter the samples I have pulled taste very blah - watered down and generally not good. Has anyone else experienced this? Does the flavor wake up with some carbonation? I may end up adding some more orange peel and...

    Fermentation not quite there

It was all grain and I am using a hydrometer to take readings. I'm pretty sure my mash temps were on target. I've never heard of anyone adding a sugar later in fermentation to up the abv , would that screw it up?

    Fermentation not quite there

I made 10 gallons of the all grain Orange kolsch recipe here on hbt and had an OG of about 1.042. I fermented in 2 separate buckets using US05 yeast Harvested from a previous batch. Gravity only went down to 1.016 which gives me something like 3.25% abv. This isn't a high alcohol brew but I was...

Help: 1st time brewing with a kegle setup

I ended up starting with 9 of the 15 gallons of water and fly sparged the other 6 gallons. I only have one burner so it was a little tricky and I couldn't tell the temp oh the sparge of water once the water level dropped below the temp probes level. Even though I have plenty of batches under my...

Help: 1st time brewing with a kegle setup

Hey everybody - I recently acquired a 3 kegle set up with HLT , Mashtun and boil pot from a friend. There are some definite differences from my igloo cooler mash tun and boil pot setup. I am attempting to brew an orange kolsch 11 gallon batch that has a 21 lb grain bill. The problems stared...
