    Hop Rhizomes - Athens area

I checked a few weeks back and they simply order them online. I was hoping for a more local source. Oh well, I will keep looking!

    Hop Rhizomes - Athens area

Does anyone have any recommendations on where to get some hop rhizomes locally or even in the atlanta area? I would rather not have to buy them online if possible and my LHBS said that is all they would do. Any help on this would be awesome! Cheers.

    Help with PVC Manifold

So I have moved up to 10 gal batches this year but am having some issues with my mash tun. I have a square rolling igloo cooler (at least 60qt, not exactly sure but fits my grain and water so its plenty big) that I currently have a SS braid in. I am not a huge fan of the braid in this new...

Help on my mash efficiency please!

Would the sugars drop to the bottom of the tun over the hour plus for the initial mash? Could that possibly account for the loss in gravity? Like i said my total volume is fine, but if the heavier sugars sink to the bottom, even if I tilt I could be leaving behind precious gravity points if...

Help on my mash efficiency please!

The old mash was a cooler as well with a ss braid. It was your basic rectangular cooler. The new one is a rolling square igloo where the spigot is a solid 3 inches from the bottom of the cooler. Because of this I tilt the cooler to attempt to get the rest of the liquid out. Think it would be...

Help on my mash efficiency please!

I did not test for conversion. I understand the need, just have never had these issues before except for the last two batches (previous batch was an ipa, mostly 2 row). Moving forward, I do think it's something I'm going to look into doing though so I do go through all la-dee-da until I get...

Help on my mash efficiency please!

I don't typically brew with wheat. I sent a message to the owner of my lhbs to see if he had any thoughts too (guy is an encyclopedia of brew knowledge). I know he was brewing this weekend, so I'm hoping he says his efficiency was off too though I don't expect that to be the case. Are there...

Help on my mash efficiency please!

Ok, so I have been brewing all grain semi regularly for the past 3 years. Up until this year I have been doing 5 gallon batches and have never really come across a problem with hitting my target starting gravity. I have now moved up to 10 gallon batches (only 2 so far) and the only changes to...

    Yeast Washing Illustrated

Thanks brewski. Honestly, that's what I thought just figured I would ask. Funny how often home brewers need to tell themselves rdwhahb. Guess the main issue moving forward will be how much of a starter to make for the next beer seeing as how I don't have a true "measurable" quantity of viable...

    Yeast Washing Illustrated

I racked as best I could, I can never get ALL the beer out of the fermenter, but certainly get as much as I can. Yes, added the boiled (and cooled) water. Tried draining a little bit of the water off that once it settled for a while and then filled up a 1/2 gallon growler. Once that settled...

    Yeast Washing Illustrated

So I followed this sticky as a first time yeast washer. Being the paranoid brewer I am, wanted to get peoples opinions on how my yeast looks. Brewed a porter and didn't have a hop sack so can't tell if area at the bottom is all trub or if that is the yeast. Any thoughts? Oh and it's been in the...
