SS Brewtech Volume Markers Way Off

You need to see how the volume markers were made, cold calibrated vs. hot. Water expands when it is heated (specific volume changes) so this does make a difference and the volume markers can be off when cold vs. hot.

    Good to be back

Well after a child, a move and two years; I finally dragged all my equipment out and brewed again. Prior to that I had been brewing at least once a month for 4 years. Felt good to be back. Brewed up an all grain zombie dust clone I got off here years ago, but used a mixture of some old frozen...

You Plug it You Plunge It

She does know how to use a plunger as she was taught by her father. She is just lazy s nd didnt want to do it because the plunger was in the ither bathroom. The toilet was plugged with toilet paper and not a sanitary napkin as she does not flush those and knows not to flush them since she was...

You Plug it You Plunge It

I actually do quite a bit for my wife. I am the predominant cook and cleaner in the house. And to be honest I usually wind up taking care of plunging for her but this was the 3rd time in 3 days and its always related to her excessive use of toilet paper so I was tired of it. Seriously half a...

You Plug it You Plunge It

So my wife told me today that I'm a jerk and an ******* because she plugged up the toilet and I told her she had to plunge it. I personally grew up in a house that had a rule that if you plug it you plunge it so I have applied that rule in our home. Anyone have an opinion on the matter? I'm try...

Cream Ale Cream of Three Crops (Cream Ale)

Brewed this today and in my three years of brewing this was the easiest brew day I've ever had. Not one issue and hit my numbers on the nose. Now I just need it to be three weeks from now so I can taste this thing!

Good beer in Amarillo and Dallas/Ft Worth area?

Lubbock is NOT a dry county anymore. However there isn't much there for good beer wise since it is a college town, although I graduated and moved away I still go back a few times a year. That being said in Lubbock Triple J Chophouse is Lubbock's only brew pub and its got some pretty decent...

Wort chilling from cooler filled with ice water, by gravity?

If you are doing single pass it could work. The column of water may be enough to jump start the flow but you might have to mess with cooler heights and the length/routing of the output hose to get it right. Another option you could consider is what I do. I use my hose water to knock the temp...

    Favorite post snow shoveling brew?

Well where I live now there is no (or very little) snow, but in my younger years I lived in Nebraska for a little while (pre drinking age). But I vividly remember what a bunch of BS snow shoveling was, so I would say for post snow shoveling I would need something very heavy and boozy like a...

    Hop Spider or False Bottom?

I've had good luck straining through a hop bag. Can't stand to use them in the boil but for straining they work great. I brewed a zombie dust clone today with 5 oz of pellets and used two hop bags while transferring to my primary. I stick them in a kitchen strainer/collander in the funnel to...
