    I can fulfill this.

    wort chiller leak!

Although the beer has been seemingly unaware of the leak (I'm typing with Hosewater IPA on my breath), I don't like it. Eventually, I will use my current IC, that I constantly have to tighten, as a pre-chiller for a plate chiller or counterflow chiller.

Funny things you've overheard about beer

One of you t(r)echies should Photoshop Koch's face on Captain Kirk's body.

    wort chiller leak!

My SWMBO and I did the same thing. Because I run the garden hose through the window into the kitchen, it took me a while to run back outside to turn off the spigot. All the while, hosewater was being added to the wort and kitchen. Quite funny. We just tightened the hose clamps and proceeded. We...

What's the worst craft brew (commercial) you've had?

Oh yeah. The stuff is terrible. They make their Harvest Wheat, which lacks any character, then add tangerine flavoring in the bright tanks. I do live close by and the beer at Lost Coast Brewery is known by locals as being sub par. The artist behind their labels is a man named Duane Flatmo. He...

How does barrel aging raise ABV?

I just had the pleasure of drinking at Sierra Nevada's Torpedo Room in Berkeley. They had a Torpedo IPA at 7.2% and a Torpedo IPA that had been aged in bourbon barrels for ten months that came in at 10.3%. The bartender told me, unequivocally, that the base beer was identical and that the...

    What did I make?

What did your hydrometer read before you added yeast?

    What did I make?

It looks like you added a pound and half of cane sugar that was not in the OP.

    What did I make?

How did you get to 15% ABV? I think we may be able to help with your calculations. Based on the recipe you gave, I don't see your ABV higher than 6.5%. Also, I would switch the pound of honey malt for a crystal 90l and lose an ounce of the Centennial. Those changes would put your recipe square...

Ahhh... 2.5 gallon batch. Was this a 2.5 gallon batch?

    What did I make?

There is no reason that this beer doesn't go down to 1.017 or lower. That is fine for 14b.

    What did I make?

You have most likely made something that falls outside of any one style. I would call it an IPA, though. 14b.

    Well played, Sir.

You know you're a home brewer when?

"The Audacity Of Hops" is a Belgian style tripel put out by Cambridge Brewing Company. The beer is every bit as delicious as it's title is clever.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

I have gone grain to glass in 10 days with this recipe. It is a very simple mild. Five gallons: 8 lbs. Marris Otter 1 lb. Crystal 60l 1 oz. EKG Mash at 152. One package of rehydrated Nottingham ale yeast.

PSA: Please stop carbonating in growlers

The Westy 12 that I have has a label that is emblazed on the bottle. A bottle bomb of this magnitude would certainly scuff it.
