    Sour Lactobacillus

Anyone know of a Canadian equivalent to the “good belly” probiotic drinks that are available in the us? I can’t easily get the lacto blends to pitch for kettle souring and was looking for an alternative. I know you can pitch a handful of grain into the wort but I’d rather not go that route. TIA.

    Milk stout gravity

Brewed a milk stout a couple weeks ago, checked the gravity and it seems to have stopped at 1.022, og was 1.048. It's only 3.4abv, pretty sad beer. It tastes good but I would like a little more abv. I'm gonna rack to secondary and raise the temp a few degrees maybe it will ferment a bit more...

    Water quality

So I have quite a few brews under my belt now but have a consistent issue with a salty bitter aftertaste. After racking my brain, scouring though palmers how to brew I'm starting to think its my water. I have a water softener and I've been reading that this will not be helping the mash process (...

    Fermenter size

Just a quick question. I see a lot of guys using the glass style carboys for fermenting, these usually are 5gal I assume. Question is, for a 19litre batch is a 5gal carboy big enough to primary in? Being that 5gal is 22 litres and some change that seems to be a little tight to me ?? What you...

    Partial mash kit

So I just got a partial mash kit, it's pretty clear except one thing. I bring my wort up to about 160f for about 30-40 min with the grains in. When that's done I put the bag in a sieve and pour boiling water over (sparge?). My question is (instructions are a little confusing) do I keep the grain...

    Extract brewing

Ok dumb question... I've been reading a lot of threads about extract brewing, I've started a couple batches just with the cans of malt (kits I guess?) would this be considered extract? I'm just wondering what the next step up would be as this brewing is pretty un-involved. Looking for something...
