    Obvious signs of fermentation first 8 hrs only?

    So I brewed my 2nd ever beer, a stout last Thursday. The first 6-12 hours it was going crazy in the fermenter but ever since, pretty much nothing. Is this normal or what? I did take the OG (right on point to what was in Home Brew book) and haven't taken it since, once I find some sanitizer...

    Hello all, just joined this site a day or two ago, was looking for an intro thread. Anyway, never brewed but have been reading into it a lot lately. Gotta save up some $$ to get a kit but looks like a lot of good options out there. I'd like to make an amber ale to begin with. Lots of good info...
