Transfer to keg after dry hop

Ideally you can cold crash the fermenter and let the hops drop to the bottom before you transfer to keg. If you can't cold crash you can still just transfer normally and once you tap the keg expect some cloudy initial pours that will get clearer after the hop residue is served.

Saison Hi Nelson! Nelson Hopped Saison w/Hibiscus

I brewed this up 4/14/17, it came out fantastic. LHBS was out of Nelson, so on the fly I went with Sorachi Ace, Calypso, and German Blanc. Hibiscus was a bit strong at first but mellowed out after a week or two. Great beer! Thanks for the recipe!

    Grainfather!!

For what it's worth, I recently bought mine from igobru32 on eBay and it came with the most recent Grainfather body, both the old and new controllers, the Grainfather hop spider, and free shipping. I did "Name Your Price" and we ended up at $975 for the whole package (it was listed at $1,040)...

    Grainfather!!

How hard is that to do? I've been looking to buy the GF Sparge water heater but agree that a ball valve would be a lot better than what they have on there... already have an extra one lying around too.

    Saison Shipwrecked Saison

I brewed up an Old Bay version of this and just tapped the keg a few days ago. I used an ounce each of Halletaur (bittering), Cascade, and Motueka. I made my own Old Bay spice mix so it wouldn't include salt. Came out very delicious and smooth with just a slight Old Bay taste (I used 3 tsp at...

    Regulator - do I need another o-ring

I found a bunch of threads on leaking CO2 tanks but wanted to provide a picture to sanity check myself... This is my regulator gas connection. Do I need to use the separate nylon O-rings that come when I get a tank refill? Or does that white plastic part (it's removable) on the end work as...

    Belgian Blonde Recipe Help

Look in the Belgian section of the recipe directory. Revvy has a Leffe clone in there that has a ton of positive feedback. I brewed it but sitting in tertiary after racking over strawberries so haven't tasted yet. I'd put a link but on iPad

    Efficiency Help

I'm just beginning with AG, but you stir right before you vorlauf? I thought that you wanted the grain bed to settle so that the grains would act as a natural filter. For my three AG batches, I've been stirring when I add the water, then at 30 minutes in, then letting it settle and then...

    Efficiency Help

Still an AG noon myself, but I think you should have added some boiling water to the mash when you saw it was 144 instead of 152 (and stirred like hell to get it dispersed ASAP). Palmer describes this in how to brew. Mashing that low would hurt your efficiency I believe.

American Porter Bee Cave Brewery Robust Porter

Nottingham ain't anything to f around with. Woke up to a blown-off blow-off tube and krausen everywhere. Cleaned it up but sounds like it will happen again today at work.... Going nuts in there

American Porter Bee Cave Brewery Robust Porter

Just brewed this yesterday as a my first all grain! Hit my numbers pretty much perfectly. Fermenting away now after ~18 hours - keeping an eye on it to switch to blow off if needed. Samples tasted great (first runnings w/ a little rum was pretty good).

    Aeration concerns!

Don't dump back into fermenter IMO. Chill it in freezer and drink. Won't taste great uncarbed/green, but gives you an idea of how it will turn out.

    Hopbot Extract DIIPA

Ok. I think I'll drop the carapils, I know its already in DME but stole grains from midwest. And l'll cut the crystal a bit.

    Hopbot Extract DIIPA

Yeah, the thought was the the sugar would help dry it out. I stole the steeping grains from a Midwest Simcoe IPA kit, not sure if they are the best option.

    Hopbot Extract DIIPA

I've put together a recipe for my first attempt at an extract (with steeping grains) DIIPA. I'm interested in trying out both Simcoe and Columbus, so I thought I'd use those two hops primarily. I haven't made a hop-bomb of a beer yet, and I decided it's about time. Any thoughts on the hop...
