Honey is 100% fermentable. I never add it until flame out or put in after fermentation starts. Anything earlier seems to be a waste. You lose the honey flavor by boiling and you could add table sugar and get the same results.

I'm brewing this next week. Going to substitute a half pound of honey malt and a half pound of sugar for the honey addition.

    Baltic Porter

Maybe mash in at 148 for 90 minutes. That will give a good mouth feel. Conversion is slower which is why it's for 90 min

    Silicone Food Grade Tubing Lifespan

Quick question. I'm thinking about upgrading to the food grade silicone tubing. How long does it last compared to the regular vinyl clear tubing for the LHBS? Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    Your typical newbie question...

I'd lightly swirl and warm it up for a few another week or so and take another gravity reading. Time can be your best friend

    Krausen not falling

I popped the top and all the foam was stuck to the plastic carboy. Inside it all dropped. I had checked a day earlier there was still some krausen

    Krausen not falling

I just brewed with sa05 last week. There's still foam up to the airlock after 8 days. Might be a characteristic of that yeast

Add more sparge water, stir it up, give it a blast of compressed air through the drain valve, and drain it very slowly.

"Christmas Ale 2013" recipe missing something?

I would boil them in a little water and add it all to the fermenter. I wouldn't add more than a half oz chunk of ginger and a tablespoon of all spice

    Flat Beer

Normal ale range. 1050's OG to 1012 FG. I usually sample one after a week to 2 weeks. Even after a month plus there's not a lot of carbonation change.
