How Brewing Gave My Restaurant Amazing Cold Brew

I've not been brewing much lately. A few months ago I picked up an injury to my back so I haven't been brewing as much as I've been limiting my lifting to take it easy. So brewing is right out in my current setup. But I was musing about what brewing got me. A few years ago the Restaurant my...

Am I too picky? (Nitro Cold Brew question)

So I've been brewing up Nitro Cold brew. And I feel like maybe I'm too picky but I know from beer you don't want any residue at the bottom because it will get picked up by the liquid post. So when I brew my cold brew after straining the grounds I run my cold brew through a coffee filter to...

Frustrated: Am I doing something wrong?

Hello everyone. I'm setting up a brand new setup where I'm hooking up commercial kegs. And I cannot get anything to pour. I have Sankey D couplers. Gas line I have a splitter on (next step is to try without a splitter) but they're 3/8 inch, same as my other kegerator. I was running a crazy...

Frustrated Newbie with a few questions

So I have minimal experience brewing Cider. Given that I live in Northern New England I've been attempting to make Cider happen. It wasn't until my last batch that I realized the Cider I was buying contains Potassium Sorbate. Which explains why my 1 gallon batch worked fine but my 5 gallon...

    Question about My Fermentation Situation

I live in Northern New Hampshire, throught the summer the high in my basement got to about 65. It generally sits in the 55-60 range as my furnace in the winter does a decent job keeping the basement semi-warm. My question for those who brew in colder climates. What larger scale methods of...

Beer Clean Glasses: Light at the end of the tunnel

For a few years I've been severely struggling with getting my glasses properly beer clean. I've been able to get them to pour and retain head fine, but they've looked bad. I assumed it was probably a combination of hard water and poor cleaning. Anyway, we recently rearranged our kitchen and...

    Brain Dump

I'm familiar with all-grain. I brew on a 1 gallon system right now. My brother and I brew on an AG system. But I'm going to be moving from an apartment into a house. Which means I can finally go full all grain. This has been in the works for some time so I already have some of the gear. I have 2...

    Been in a brewing Rut

I have so many things I can brew with, but I just haven't gotten into brewing lately. It's probably been almost a year since I've brewed anything. I've had the time, just haven't gotten the motivation to do it. I'm gonna force myself to do it. It's a weird thing that happens to me when I...

    1 Gallon Keg question

Well technically 5 liters. I brew small batches and have mused at ways I can change up my serving. It's a bit of a pain to bottle when you brew small batches, your yields are pretty low. Anyway I found a good deal on one of those mini-keg kegerators and I'm wondering if anyone has any...

    Change in setup need help

So I'm an apartment brewer. I have been doing 1 gallon AG and Partial Mashes and have had issues hitting efficiencies so I'm going to move into a cooler setup for them. I believe either a 2 or 3 gallon cooler should do the trick but what I was curious, how much loss would I be at risk of having...

    Strong Scotch Ale Question?

I was curious why does the BJCP profile for the Scotch Strong, does it call for acceptable OG from the 1.070-1.130 but the maximum alcohol is 10%? Why aren't they more kind to a higher Attenuation beers? I'm constructing a recipe and if I get a higher finishing alcohol content how would I attack it?

    Weird Hydroreading

Someone can guide me here as to what happened. I mashed in at 163 for my mini-mash. I put the Kettle in a warm room in a comforter that before had good yield. According to beer smith my estimated OG would have been 1.085. My read gravity was somewhere between 1.050-1.060. What makes this weird...

    Hoodie Style question?

I feel like I'm in the growing minority who prefers pullover hoodies over zip hoodies. When I look at Breweries for a new hoodie oto replace my Ommegang pullover they're almost all zip. I could only find 3 pullovers I liked, One foTroegs, one from Firestone Walker, and one from and another...

So foolish unplanning me (really foolish can't make a plan brother) is brewing a belgian strong ale tomorrow. Deep Thoughts

Why does my cats water fountain bowl look more appetizing than my own water? And would it be wrong to just lap water out of his bowl?
