    Troubleshooting chlorophenols & band-aid burps

Hey all. So the last two batches I've made have given me band-aid burps. The first was a Kolsch & the most recent is a Double IPA. I can only pick up the off-flavor via band-aid burps (and it's really only every 3 burps, anyway). It isn't anything super noticeable and both beers turned...

ISO Heady. Surly & others FT

Hi there. I've been trying on reddit & Beeradvocate but haven't had any bites. I'm really trying to track down some Heady to give it a try but more importantly to get some Conan yeast. I live in the Twin Cities & can get Surly. All of the year-rounds for sure, & maybe even Pentagram...

Does Roselare in Flanders Red need a starter?

Hi Everyone Sorry if this is a re-post. I'm brewing my first sour tomorrow - Jamil's Flander's Red -and I'm planning on pitching Roselare from the get-go. If it's a simple 5 gal batch do I need to make a starter or can I just smack & pitch directly into the wort? Thanks!

Dry Hop Testing with Bud Light

Just stumbled on this via reddit's /r/beer this afternoon. What a fantastic idea. Sorry if this is a re-post, but I thought that this was too good not to share... http://www.bertusbrewery.com/2013/03/dry-hopped-bud-light.html?m=1

Will my hop spider work in a keggle?

I built a DIY hop spider ala this guy and it's working great in my 7.5 gal. turkey fryer kettle. But I'm getting sick of watching the first 30 mins. for boil-overs and am about to make a 15.5 gal keggle. If I'm making 5 gal batches (boiling 6.5 gals or so) in a keggle, will the 5 gal...

The Sith Lord - Black IPA (CDA)

So I've been brewing for 2 years or so now and this was, by far, the best beer I made. It was inspired by a few recipes I got out of Mitch Steele's new IPA book. It ended up with a nice, toasty dark character. The warm alcohol in it meshed perfectly for a fantastic mid-winter brew. The...

    What's the best AG beer you've made w/ 1056?

I washed some 1056 yeast from a previous batch and am looking to brew with it this weekend. What are some of your favorite 1056 fermented beers? Thanks in advance! :mug:

    Underpitching Dunkelweizen w/ WLP300

I'm brewing my first Dunkelweizen this Friday and am debating whether or not to make a starter. I want to go for banana more than clove, and I've heard in various places that under-pitching & stressing hefe. yeast creates more of those banana esters. :ban: Would pitching a single WLP300...

Do ball lock gas lines seal themselves?

Sort of a keg noob here... Last night I racked a beer into a corny and put it in the fridge to cool overnight. I accidentally left my CO2 valve open overnight and this morning when I went to hook up the gas nothing came out. I'm trying to figure out whether I simply ran out of CO2 (but only...
