Thanks, no fruit flies, and I am now using a cheap bourbon in the blow off, if that gets sucked in, no problem.
I brewed a Belgian duppel, 2nd AG recipe, much better efficiency today thanks to my LHBS advice.
About 700 ml. I tasted the beer and it didn't taste good. This was my 1st all grain and I didn't vourlouf, that may have been the off flavor. I went ahead and started over. I think I will go get grain alcohol and use it in my blow off bottle? What a rookie mistake! After I poured it out I...
Tragedy strikes! I was emptying trub from my conical, didn't get the blow off tube disconnected. Big sad face! Sucked up a bunch of star San water into my beer. Dang it, dang it, dang it! Emptied my AK47 mild ale and start over.
1st ever All Grain. Northern Brewers AK47 Mild Pale Ale. 5 gallons. I followed the recipe the temps were right but the water did not add up? After sparging I still lacked about 2 gallons of water, so I just rinsed the grains again with 170 degree water? Should I have just topped off in the...
Finished the cooler conversion to mash tun and HLT. Sanitized the Fermentor. Checked my ingredients for my first try at an all grain recipe Northern Brewers AK47 with an extra pound of pale malt. I am trying to decided if I want to use a White labs yeast instead of the dry Britannia? Yeast I...
Nobody advised on your question. Bummer! I just bought this kit, and I also thought it looked weak. How did yours turn out? Did adding to it cause problems?
Finished conversion of two coolers for a HLT and Mash Tun. Received my 1st all grain kit, an AK 47 Ale. Got the Darkstar burner and an aluminum pot. I still need a propane tank and a process. Next weekend I will brew my first all grain batch. Oh, Yeah! Feel like a kid going on his first date!
Kegged my first Lager. Tasted my LePetite Orange, it has very citrus after taste, hope it settles a little with age. Ordered my burner and grains for my next batch. Easy AK 47 Ale. This will be my first all grain.
Racked my lager into a secondary, never did act like it was fermenting, but when I opened the bucket there was a large head of karusen (sp) so I hope it did something. Secondary in a glass carboy at about 45 degrees for ?? weeks. Tasted good. I guess that's what counts.
Brewed a 5 gallon extract Black Lager while gathering the finishing grains for my Belgian white next weekend. If you don't brew for a couple of weeks, you run out of beer.
Five taps and only two running?
just finished putting my keezer together. I have the CO2 manifold ready to install. I still need to install the fan. Almost done. Not the prettiest, but very functional.
