    Perlick 630SS quality issues

I received two of the four like this. I'm guessing it wasn't in a batch that went through the more scrutinized quality check. Not exactly sure what Perlick does for quality control.

    Perlick 630SS quality issues

I suspect a bad datum reference point or a machine with the zero set incorrectly.

    Perlick 630SS quality issues

Hey all, I recently purchased four Perlick 630SS for my kegerator build and found that two of the four were not sealing correctly. One would need to apply an inordinate amount of handle pressure to get the valve ball to seat forward. This was physically observable and appears to be due to the...

Who Has Experience With Wyeast 1388 - Belgian Strong Ale?

Yep, that chart explains that a little further. This yeast produced better flavors in that upper range. I fermented in the low range and got some undesirable phenols last time. My wife liked it and apparently everyone else who tried it does, but coupled with the excess residual sweetness, I...

Who Has Experience With Wyeast 1388 - Belgian Strong Ale?

Fun fact, this yeast does much better at higher temperatures. If you go to white labs website they have a document for what their belgian yeasts do at different temperatures. It's buried deep, here's a link: http://www.whitelabs.com/files/belgianchart_0.pdf Next time I brew a Belgian golden...

    BrewPi not assigning sensors

I just got my Brewpi (Raspberry Pi 2/Arduino Uno R3) running. Seems to be fine, except I'm trying to assign devices. For whatever reason, I cannot assign one of the DS18B20 temp sensors to "beer temp", I set all parameters and hit apply and it just reverts to whatever the Arduino had set after...

    Mini fridge recommendations?

Are there any wires or lines from the top to the base? I think something else happened to your freezer in the process of adding the tower. Most freezer lids and fridge doors are just an insulated door. Otherwise everyone here would be damaging their freezers when removing the lids to put a...

    "Non-disruptive" Keezer Build

Guess you'll have to do the moment calculations. Assuming that 5-25lb magnets can hold the vertical component of the shelf+a few full beers and don't slide down the fridge from that force alone, you'll need to calculate the horizontal moments to keep it from being pried off. /engineer. Check...

    STC-1000 replacing refrigerator thermostat

Until the fridge decides it's time for defrost. I had to bypass my fridge thermostat (pretty much just bridged the wiring) so that it would allow lagering temperatures and not kick back up to 40°F in defrost mode.

Bev-Seal Ultra and John Guest fitting experience?

It appears that Thadeus, king of keezer layouts, has used the same set up. I think i'll make the plunge, just need to figure out line lengths and debate the manifold vs individual secondary regulators. https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f35/its-finally-done-my-10-tap-keezer-449284/

Bev-Seal Ultra and John Guest fitting experience?

I'm looking at upgrading my beer fridge with new taps and want to have it be easy to assemble and clean. My searches on this forum haven't resulted in exactly what I was looking for. I've been looking at the 3/16" Bev-Seal Ultra Series 235 tubing, and Accuflex's website says it has a 1" bend...

What yeast to use when US05 doesnt hit FG?

The beer in that episode of Brewmasters (December 2010) was actually 120min IPA which is 18% ABV, 1.200 OG! That is a completely understandable stall. An OG of 1.070 is very reasonable and well within the capability of 1056/US-05. Raise your temps and let 'er go for a week more. Also, I've had...

Who Has Experience With Wyeast 1388 - Belgian Strong Ale?

I thought I should bring this thread back from the dead with some new revelations. This yeast needs lots of temperature fine tuning and attention. I made a Belgian Golden Strong with it, OG of 1.090 and a 1.6L yeast starter. It took off in less than 12 hours and I kept the fermenter (fridge...

    BeerSmith recipe version question

Wow, old thread but relevant regardless. I can't believe they haven't found a better way to do this. Usually I'll just copy a recipe and give it a new name. And every brew I do gets moved to the brew log. Seems like it would make more sense to have "recipes" and brew sessions as completely...

    customized Citra Pale Ale

I gotta ask, what was was the beer that had that flavor? I'm going to guess it was an american pale or IPA with either US-05 or Wyeast 1056? I've done a few batches of all citra IPA with Wyeast 3787 (Trappist HG) and have not experienced these flavors. Citra is volatile and breaks down fast...

    Galaxy/Citra IPA recipe

I don't recall getting a cat piss smell from my all Citra Belgian IPA, but perhaps it was masked by the yeast flavor compounds. I'm going to guess that's probably what happens to heavily Citra-hopped beers if it gets light struck or oxidized.

    Hopalicious clone

Totally dead on. I have an extract recipe I made using your suggestion and everyone loves it, even the medal winners in my homebrew club. Turned out near 8% but no one noticed.
