Viability of Using a Dishwasher’s Sanitize Setting

I’ve been brewing a long time and I rarely bottle anymore. But when I did, I used the dishwasher with great results. Like JimRausch said above, I immediately hot water rinsed 3 times and let dry. I would take some bleach and clean the inside of my dishwasher. Then visually inspect the inside of...

Thanks guys. I can’t believe I did that. Been brewing a long time. D’oh!

    The dreaded suck back

I’m an idiot. Adjusted my inkbird to cold crash my fermenter and I must have been distracted by a shiny object. I forgot to put the gas manifold on and add some CO2. Came back from vacation and ugh. How much starsan, if any really, is ok to drink. I have probably a quart in 9 gallons of IPA. I...

Spike Conical- observations and best practices

I just got the CF10 late November. No time to brew over the holidays so I just got to getting it set up to brew and ferment. Did a dry run with 11 gallons of water. For the life of me, I couldn’t get it to hold pressure. Could hear it coming out around the manifold. Took apart and Taped the...

Spent Grain? Make Your Best Friend Cookies!

I use powdered peanut butter for the dog treats. It tightens up the batter without using a lot of flour

    Sluggish Wyeast 1968

1968 is my house yeast. Usually see airlock activity in 12hrs or so. I make a starter and have had nothing but good results with 1968. Gets crystal clear too

Yeah, I have a a dual control. That’s why I’m looking into building a small walk in with a big window unit and heater. That way I can do 2 fermenters and set it and forget it

I thought of that, but my freezer has all the lines going through the shelves so they are not removable. Also, I may get a second, so I think I’m going to build a small walk in style with a big window unit and a heater. I have a dual inkbird already

I never saw the tri-clamp to hose adapter. That’s great. I’ve just seen the videos of the yeast dump going everywhere. Thank you gentlemen

Spike Conical- observations and best practices

Pardon me if this has been answered earlier in this thread. Too many pages to wade through. Getting a cf10. I am moving my brewing operations to an uninsulated metal pole barn. I will need to build a ferment chamber. I’m thinking a walk in with heat and cooling. My question relates to flooring...

    Fermentation chamber

Hello all. Have always fermented in plastic buckets kept in my 67 degree pantry. Hubby and I just got a large pole barn and I'll be brewing and fermenting out there. Its metal and basically uninsulated. I'm upgrading to the Spike cf15 with the tc100. We live in NJ, so we do get pretty cold...

    Best NEIPA hop combos

I’ve been using liquid hop extract lately and have been very pleased with the results. It gives a very clean soft hop bitterness without being harsh. I just did a 10 gallon batch. Not really a NEIPA. I like a bit more bitterness upfront. I used the whole 10ml syringe at 60 minutes. Maybe use half.
