OYL - 052 DIPA yeast slow to start?

Above mentioned yeast (the conan yeast) has been extremely slow to start. Not sure what's going on. Anyone else experienced this? I got spooked when the LHBS told me 'it has an extremely short shelf life' and I saw it was a month old. That doesn't seem very old, but... it's 2 days now, 36...

Did I screw up with steeping?

Read an article telling me use as much volume as possible on my batch, so I used 2.5 gallons water for 2.5 gallon batch ... But I steeped my grains in the 2.5... Things seems to say this isn't that big a deal but what say you? Thanks In advance

    Firken Fest Winooski

http://www.vtfirkinfest.com/?page_id=15 There are some big names in there. 4Quarters makes incredible beer alone, never mind when you have Cigar City, Grimm, and Other Half.

    VT/New England Style IPA/Pale Kit?

So, there's a lot of talk re: Heady, Cloning, etc. I don't need heady. I'm looking for recommendations regarding any kits that end up with that really fruity style IPA/Pale. If anyone has had any of the following, it's an idea of what I'm after: Lawson's Sip of Sunshine Trillium Fort Point...

    Only used half my LME

Is the other half junk? LHBS said after a week, def ditch it and buy new next time. Is this true? Just verifying before spending another 15-20 on extract alone.

    Need help on ipa/saison

New around here but on my fourth batch I'm aiming to take northern brewer "kama citra" and alter it a few ways. First, and biggest, using 3724 Belgian saison yeast. Second, need help with the hops. Worried about cascade clashing with the saison flavors. I halved the recipe, for a 2.5g batch...

IPA with Saison Yeast - Opinions please

Weather is HOT. 95+ daily. Most would just wait to brew. Myself, I'm hooked because I'm new. What happens if I take a kama citra recipe from northern brewer and use saison yeast rather than the yeast it comes with? Longer period before drinkable? ...I know the flavor will taste...

To all who recommended a swamp cooler

Well, after an interesting day... I had set my porter in the basement overnight. It was just as full as other batches in the car boy... Recommended the blowoff tube, roommate said let's just see. Go down this morning and yup! Foam everywhere, beer more places... Took a dremel to an air lock...

    Wild Hops found but...

There may or may not be worms in/on/somewhere around them. My roommate picked a bunch of hops, he said he felt a worm crawling on him on the drive home. He thought it was from the hops, but really, he was in bushes and stuff so I'm not so sure it didn't just come from a plant elsewhere...

First All Grain batch (1 gallon) yeast issue?

Hi. New to the forum. Second batch brewed, first batch all grain (Brooklyn Brewers Jalapeno Saison) GF Brewed this kit. I just helped. Did everything according... After 12 hours or so, the airlock was poppin, the yeast was swimmin, you could tell things were right. After a day, the yeast...
