    Converting to Sanke S-type system

When purchasing new Sankey kegs is there anything that needs to be done to them before first use? Do they need a TSP cleaning or need to be passivated? Or can you just sanitize and begin using?

    Walk-in cooler build thread

Here is the framing completed along with wiring pulled. I decided to do a single cat 5e wire run for each sensor I anticipate needing. In one area of the cooler I will have a low volt plate with 3 RJ12 ports available. 1 of these ports will be for the cooler temperature so my air-conditioner...

BCS Temp probe to Cat5e Help

Any ideas how long of a run you can make with the Cat5? I want to do something similar in my fermentation room and I'd want to use cat 5 wire and connectors between my fermenters and my brewPi.

Oxygenation in a 15 gallon fermentor

I certainly oxygenate in my conicals. I cannot see any reason to STOP oxygenating once you make the change. I don't think you are going to get O2 levels where you need/want them otherwise.

    Walk-in cooler build thread

I'm usually bad about the "before pictures". Here is what it used to look like and the space cleaned and ready to begin the build.

    Walk-in cooler build thread

Background: I have an unconditioned space, completely sealed and underground. Temperatures hold pretty steady in the 60's except during the summer months when it can climb into the low 70's. It has worked great for fermenting my carboys, but I am graduating to conicals and I want to brew...

    Super Simple 15G Plastic Conical

Thanks for those links. Every little bit off helps me buy more fittings! I am trying to get my head around a CIP ball/top connector. I assume I need a weldless bulkhead fitting through the lid with a triclover fitting out the outside. I would want to use this fitting for cleaning, adding CO2...

    Super Simple 15G Plastic Conical

Could those of you who have used the 2x1.5 concentric reducer to go to 2" sight glass comment on whether you think it was beneficial or if the 1.5" sight glass is sufficient for 15gal batches? Debating if the added parts are worth it. Thanks...

    Super Simple 15G Plastic Conical

Forgive me if this was covered in the previous 109 pages, but things start to get fuzzy after a while. I am looking to typically brew 15 gal batches, but occasionally will want to double batch and get a full barrel fermenting. Is there too much headspace in the 30gal conical when doing 15 gal...

Eyes on my first Black Rye IPA

My wife has become a huge fan of black ipas (thanks Wookey Jack!) and has asked me to start formulating our own house Black IPA. What are your thoughts on this grist and hop bill? Wondering if it is too complex and if the hops will complement each other against the Rye. I am planning on...

    New Brew Software!

I'm a developer by trade so I might be able to provide some feedback/testing. However, I am prone to usually find the happy path.

    Grain Mills - Your opinion?

I've been using my Millar's mill for about 6 months now and I am very happy with it. The gap is easy to adjust and does not seem to waver over time. I would not waste your time with the handcrank though, just hook up a corded drill. The hopper holds ~5lbs of grain and it blows through it...

    Grain Mills - Your opinion?

I'm curious about latest thoughts on the Millar's B3 as well. I've read a ton on this mill and initial thoughts were poor but they seem to be trending much more positive in the past year or so. I'd love to hear other people's recent experiences with this mill and the company.

First Recipe Attempt - Columbia Common

Could I get some feedback on a recipe I am trying to formulate? I am inspired by Widmer's Columbia Common and this is my first hack at a recipe for something similar. Here is the website for the inspiration: http://widmerbrothers.com/beer/#columbia-common And here is my take on it: Boil...
