    Fermentation Blow off issue...

    Just bottled this batch of stout. It looked healthy, as you all said it would. I tasted a bit of it and it was pretty good flat. Gonna be a long two weeks...

    Have my first two beers fermenting currently. A Winter Warmer for this... winter... and an Oatmeal Stout for as soon as it's done. First two brews went pretty well. I can't wait to brew more, but have to wait. I only have enough empties to bottle two batches.

    I'd have a homebrew, but my first two batches are fermenting right meow! Also, I will take your advice on always using a blowoff tube now.

    So, sometime in the past 2 hours my batch of Oatmeal Stout popped the stopper out of the carboy. I could have been open for 2 hours I figure... I've sanitized and replaced the stopper with a blowoff tube into a bucket of sanitizer, but... How likely is it that my brew is contaminated? the beer...

    I did my first brew yesterday! I made a spiced holiday ale so that it had time to age before the holidays. It went pretty well, I think. My OG was a hair below my target and due to some clumsiness on my part, I ended up 1/2 gallon short on yield, but smooth process for the most part.

    I'm brand new and gearing up for my first brew. I will not be brewing any IPAs. Not my thing. I plan to do an oatmeal stout first from an extract kit to get my feet wet. Brew day will be in two weeks or so.
