    Pink discoloration in my fermentor.

I was cleaning out a keg and instead of dumping 5 gals of water/star san solution I placed the liquid in one of my fermentor bucket. This solution has been in there for approx 1 month. When I went to check the bucket there is are pink half dollar size spots on the top part of the bucket and on...

First All Grain Bew, low OG....what gives

I'm ordering a refractometer now. So lets say the OG of 145 is correct. Do you see any reason why I was so far off from the est OG of 1.060? My brewhouse efficiency was on 56% when it should have been 72. Will the beer still taste good with such a low efficiency?

First All Grain Bew, low OG....what gives

No I didn't stir the pre-boiled wort prior to taking the temp. I have a wine thief so I just pulled from the top.

First All Grain Bew, low OG....what gives

No I didn't add top up water after the boil. It was 3:00 in the morning when I took the reading so it might have been me misreading it... although I did take three different readings, weird. So what your saying is if my pre-boil reading was 1.055 then it most likely went up from there? I...

First All Grain Bew, low OG....what gives

With regards to the yeast, I heated 1 1/2 cups of water for approx 30 seconds and stirred in the yeast and then pitched it into the wort.

First All Grain Bew, low OG....what gives

Last night was my first attempt at All Grain brewing. The recipe I was using was Waynes Blue Moon clone. I was hitting my target temps throughout the mash and pre-boil gravity reading. We when I went to take a postboil reading before pitching the yeast my hydrometer read 1.045. My est post boil...

    Blue Moon Clone

Question, I followed waynes instructions to a T. I hit all of my mash temps and pre-boil gravity but here is where the trouble begins. When I went to take a post boil reading (once wort cooled down to 70 degrees) my gravity was 1.045 when it should have been 1.060 according to beersmith. Any...

Brewing first IPA this weekend - NEED HELP

Another quick question.... I accidentally lets my sanitized airlock cap in the bottom of my primary fermenter and didn't realize it until the end. I have several airlock tops so I just used another one. Is this a big deal? Should I fish it out?

Brewing first IPA this weekend - NEED HELP

Yes, it is a pre hoppped LME.... this seems super easy, I hope it tastes good. The people at my local homebrew store recommended the hops and they typically give good advised but I just forgot to ask when to add the add'l hops. So will boiling it ruin the beer? Re: themartinezmafia, my...

Brewing first IPA this weekend - NEED HELP

The plan is to brew my first IPA using a Thomas Cooper liquid malt extract kit. Here is my dilemma. The recipes I’ve used in the past have all called for a boil time of 60 minutes to as low as a 10 minute which is when I would add my hops. This Thomas Cooper doesn’t appear to have a boil time so...
