Hello dentman and welcome to the Addiction of homebrewing. The term ur looking for is wort (pronounced wert). And it is always a great idea to taste the sample and take notes about it. I also recommend tasting the raw ingredients also. This is how you learn what diff ingredients taste like and...
The easiest way to start brewing your own recipes is to keep it simple and study. Read through what various grains, adjuncts, additives, etc are used for and what percentage of the grain bill to keep them at. Then pick a style beer that you like. Use a recipe building app and apply your...
First off it will improve with time. 2nd are u sure you used s04? It usually has a lower atten and doesn't usually finish that low. 3rd to raise the FG you need to get some more unfermentables in the wort. With this recipe just bump the crystal up to .75lbs of 120l or add .25lb of carapils or...
Well there I go trying to help out and end up putting my foot in my mouth. Lol I guess I should have asked for batch size before I went throwing my opinion around. But for myself I would still adjust the schedule to add some more hops to bittering (full boil.) For my taste when I'm doing IPAs I...
Centennial hops are my fav. I grow my own, so my answer is prejudiced! Lol. Imho MO/ Centennial with s05 yeast is a great combo. Finishes clean with all the great qualities of MO, and you get that citrusy bittering and aroma from the the cent.

It has suggestions like using dme instead of lme, boiling it in 4 or 5 gallons instead of 2, removing pot from heat before...
Any extract version of any recipe is gonna be a little darker. Also did you use the extra light extract or a darker version extract. And most of the pics are probably from all grain recipe.
Well I'm a creature of habit lol so I almost always use hop sack with pellets. Mostly because it's easier cleanup. Lol. I have used whole leaf hops (from my own garden) with this recipe also, and both turned out great. 🍻
Original 5gal extract recipe calls for a total of 1.1oz hops (.5 centennial n .5 cascade). By adjusting hop schedule and bumping up centennial you should be good togo. But maybe I'm just preferential to centennial since I grow my own! Lol I have made a batch with just centennial and loved it.
