I haven't had any of the beers mentioned before, but of what I have had Alpha Centauri is my favorite, and Inversion Is a close second.

I like them for the extra space to the top, that way I don't need to worry as much about boil overs. It's for peace of mind.

The Bier Stein in Eugene has a lot of bottled beer selections from all over, as well as several beers on tap. Hop Valley makes very good beer, try the Alpha Centauri. Just don't eat their food.

I ended up going with a 9 gallon Bayou Classic stainless steel pot that my lhbs had. Bought the ball valve conversion kit and used it as the mash tun this time. Eventually I wll get another just because I'm not all that big on aluminum, plus I lost a lot more volume during the boil than I had...

I've boiled a few times with it now, and I got it from a friend who I'm assuming used it to fry turkeys. Never really asked though. I figure if I'm using it as a mash tun then any contamination would be taken away with a boil?

Any negative effects of using aluminum for a mash tun?
