Need help breaking down what's going wrong with my IPAs

I just ordered some 2017 hops, so hopefully that'll make a difference. I have thought about that a lot, just figured I'd at least get something out of them since they still smell good.

Need help breaking down what's going wrong with my IPAs

I've been home brewing for almost two years. I've made some decent IPAs in the past, but after a hiatus and moving my system to a new place I haven't been able to make a single one worth keeping. They aren't terrible by any means, and there aren't any particular off flavors. The biggest issue is...

Suggestions for brewing in a basement without a floor drain

I am currently in the process of relocating my home brew system to the basement of a buddy's house. Unfortunately there isn't a floor drain so we are working on figuring out an efficient way to get rid of waste water. There is however a pipe connected to the washing machine that drains it's...

Advice on purchasing/putting together a chest freezer fermentation chamber

I am fairly new to brewing and have come to realize how important fermentation temps are for the quality of a beer, so i am going to go for it and buy a chest freezer to convert into a fermentation chamber. my beers are currently at the mercy of my house thermostat which is inconsistent to say...

ss brew tech 20 gallon mash tun

I have been using the Ss brewtech 20 gallon mash tun for 5 gallon batches- which i understand is leaving a lot of headspace in the tun, but for the life of me i cannot get the temperature to stay put. i even purchased the temperature controller which, as advertised, is supposed to keep your temp...

Can someone critique my recipe idea? New to recipe designing. Any input appreciated

Thank you, that is very useful information. I went onto Brewer's Friend water calculator and couldn't figure out where I can actually enter a beer recipe, only the water profile. Any way you can direct me to what you were using?

Can someone critique my recipe idea? New to recipe designing. Any input appreciated

Actually, I'm in Portland, Maine. So I'm assuming that means my water is extremely soft? Would replacing some of my base malts with a little acid malt be something I'd always want to use when making ale types? I've read that darker malts help with the pH balance so if I were to make a darker...

I posted the water profile from my city above^ Not quite sure how to read it/what to take from it. Any help with that would be appreciated!

Can someone critique my recipe idea? New to recipe designing. Any input appreciated

To be honest, I don't have any good reason other than I've noticed in the grain bills in beers that I really enjoy sometimes they use pilsner alongside 2-row. At this point I'm just trying to gather what I can and learn from brewers and beers that I like and take what I can from them. On the...

This is from my local brew shop.. again I'm pretty new to this so I'm not sure how to accurately read this profile and know what to do with it. Other than 5.2 (which I've heard isn't always a good thing to use) I've yet to learn alternate ways to change the water profile.
